To Write Love On Her Arms has affected me in many different ways, all of them positive, though. I remember the first time that I read Renee's story: my friend walked into class with a TWLOHA shirt, and I commented, asking what it was about.
That story changed my life.
I got involved immediately, and started telling everyone about it. At this time, I was a little too...eager, if you will, and so many people told me I was crazy and this organization wouldn't help at all. I'd just love to rub it in their faces now.
This street team has helped me in so many ways. That sounds super cheesy, and this is going to sound worse, but it's like a family. A giant family, where everyone loves you no matter what you've gone through, what you've done. So many people on there have made a difference in my life, including but not limited to Erin, Bobby, Jude and Julia. I love them to death, and if anyone hurts them, they'll have to come to me!
I recently broke six months of not cutting, and I felt like shit after it happened. I decided to post something about it on the boards, and I no longer feel guilty. These phenomenal people are so important to me and my life : if they weren't here, I doubt a lot of us would be as well.
So why is TWLOHA important to me?
Well, I guess, in a funny sort of way, it saved me.
That's why.
